Digital Dispatch GPS 440 Differential GPS Receiver

The GPS 440 is specifically designed as a general purpose Differential Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver unit for in-vehicle use.

The rugged compact GPS 440 contains a differential GPS receiver that connects to a mobile data terminal or computer via a standard RS-232 serial interface.

The GPS 440 is normally shipped with the Trimble ACE series GPS receiver module but can be optionally equipped with a Motorola GT Plus Oncore receiver. Each configuration is ready to operate in differential GPS mode, thus providing increased position accuracy.

The battery backup feature allows the current position, almanac and ephemeris to be saved when the unit is powered down. This allows the GPS 440 to provide position information typically within 20†seconds from power up under hot start conditions.

The unit incudes a compact, active patch antenna with magnetic mounts for easy installation.

The convenient switched serial port feature of the GPS 440 allows the host computer to use a single RS-232 port to communicate with the GPS receiver and a second auxiliary serial device such as a printer.

The host computer can dynamically control whether it is communicating with the GPS receiver or the auxiliary serial device. The interface also provides four general purpose I/O signals that are directly connected between the Host and Aux ports.
